In the following chapter I am going to describe the most common and important kind of veterinary technology personnel in the US. The length of the training after High School ­Diploma depends on the college, school or university and even the US State where you get your education:

•Veterinary Technician: 2–4 years

•Veterinary Technologist: 2–4 ­years

•Veterinary Technologist/Technician Specialist: training on the job

•Veterinary Assistant: training on the job

There is often little difference between the tasks done by technicians and by technologists, despite some differences in formal education and training.
